iPhone voicemail says full after deleting? The fix

A number of iPhone users encounter the warning message that their voicemail is 95% or 100% full. This is quite annoying especially when there are just a few voicemail messages or none.

Luckily, there are some things you can do to fix this. Try the fixes below, one at a time until the issue is fixed.

1. Update iOS

iOS updates are released periodically to fix the errors and bugs. If you are getting the annoying error message that your voicemail is full, it may be that your iOS version is outdated. So, to fix the error, you need to check for any available iOS update and install it.

To update iOS:

  • Go to Settings
  • Tap on General
  • Select Software update
  • Tap on Download and Install
  • Tap on Install
  • Enter the passcode when asked

2. Delete voicemails permanently

If you have many voicemail messages, the error will occur. To fix, delete the voicemail messages permanently to create space for new ones. Deleting them once only removes them from the voicemail visual list but they are saved to the Deleted Messages section.

This why the notification that your voicemail is full appears even after you delete all your voicemail messages. Here is how to permanently delete them:

  • Go to phone
  • Go to Voicemail
  • Tap on Deleted Messages
  • Tap on Clear all.

3. Turn on Airplane Mode before deleting voicemails

If the above doesn’t work, you should try turning the airplane mode on before deleting the voicemail messages. Turn the airplane mode off after you delete the voicemails.

To turn the airplane mode on:

  • Go to Settings
  • Go to Airplane Mode
  • Toggle it on.

Delete the voicemail messages permanently as in fix 2 above then turn the airplane mode off.

To turn Airplane Mode off:

  • Go back to Settings
  • Go to Airplane Mode
  • Toggle it on.

4. Delete from Network

You can also fix the problem by deleting the voicemail messages from the network. To do so:

  • Open the phone app
  • Dial your own number to access your voicemail
  • Press 1 to listen to your messages starting with the new ones
  • Delete the messages you want during the call.

5. Reset your iPhone

Wrong settings on your iPhone can cause the error to appear. To fix you can reset your phone. Resetting erases all configurations, settings and data from your phone. To reset:

  • Go to settings
  • Navigate to General
  • Go to Reset
  • Tap on Erase all content and settings
  • Input your passcode to confirm the action. Your Apple ID and password may also be required.

6. Restart your iPhone

Technical errors are a common thing in most devices. If your iPhone has a technical issue, you are likely to encounter the error. To fix it, try restarting your phone. Check if the error is fixed thereafter.

Those are the ways in which you can fix the “iPhone Voicemail says full” error. Make sure to check if the error is no longer there after every step. You don’t have to try all of them, leave out the rest after your problem is fixed.
